How are softgels manufactured?
Softgel encapsulation is a common practice yet it does require certain expertise to produce the very best softgels. The process of creating a softgel capsule consists of four main stages:
- Gelatin Manufacturing
- Prepare filling
- Encapsulate filling
- Touch up
The very first step in the process is to prepare the gelatin capsule. Note that this process is not the same as the veggie softgels process. But you need to get the ingredients together to start with gelatin softgels.
Making a health supplement at leading softgels manufacturers will almost always end with the formula being filled. In particular, the process of encapsulating the formula with softgels co-occurs as the shell, and the other mixtures are added to a machine. All of this is done in a temperature-controlled room with less humidity. It is essential to have optimal manufacturing conditions to produce high-quality softgel product.
The process of creating a finished softgel begins with the previously formulated gelatin mixture. The gelatin mixture is poured on two extremely cold drums. The drums roll continuously, both solidifying and rolling off the gelatin blend as a solid sheet, but it will be divided in half. They will be put through a process with both halves now ready, which will cut each half to the appropriate size and shape. The two matching halves will be met together, but first, a heated wedge will insert your custom blend filling. The softgel's two halves will enclose this heated wedge. Both halves of the softgel will surround this heated wedge. The wedge will inject the custom formula into the softgel once the wedge is in place and the softgel is almost closed. The wedge is removed as the final step of the process, and the softgel is quickly sealed or coated as directed and set aside for cooling and settling. It will also be put in a cool drum that will rapidly rotate to help congeal gelatin. The finished softgel will then go through a drying process.
